There are three membership categories:  Active, Associate, and Supplier.

Active membership in HTI is open to U. S. manufacturers where a majority of such manufacturers' (and any related entities) U.S. non-powered hand tool sales (by dollar value) consist of products manufactured in the United States.

Associate membership is open to manufacturers in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the European Union, and Australia with sales in the United States.
